"Ten Lamps" - The Freeville Family Readiness Fair
"Ten Lamps" is the new name we're giving to an annual fair hosted by our church to help area families, individuals and children succeed in these uncertain times. The name recalls the Parable of the Ten Virgins, half of whom took oil for their lamps and half of whom did not while waiting for the Bridegroom. (See Matthew 25:1-13.) Are YOU ready?
We are targeting Saturday, September 17th for the next Ten Lamps event, 9 AM to 4 PM. Vendors of goods and services related to the readiness theme are welcome. Non-Profit organizations are also invited to participate to create awareness and share information. Food and family fun will also be provided, with childcare for the little ones.
Begun as the "Freeville Family Fun Fair" in 2009, we are shifting the fair's focus from simply having fun to helping people prepare for emergencies or difficult times ahead. Some of the topics we hope to address include:
- Food preservation
- Gardening
- Homesteading arts
- Emergency Preparation
- Home healthcare & first aid
- Edible wild foods
- Bulk food procurement
- Root cellars
- Survival arts
- Alternative energy
- Breadmaking from scratch
