In 2015, Reach Out partnered with Pastor Brighton and Dorothy Wanyemba to charter a Reach Out Church in Blantyre, Malawi. This church plant targets urbanites in the city of Blantyre, former home of famed missionary David Livingston. In 2021, we now have multiple locations where Malawians are able to hear the Gospel and be reached in Malawi.
Reach Out began supporting orphans in Malawi in 2008, after being introduced to Pastor Brighton Wanyemba by Evangelist Elizabeth Austin. Church member Nancy Shaw raised funds that year by doing a rummage sale every weekend all summer long, proceeds from which helped Pastor Brighton build a foundation for what would become a school and orphan feeding station.

Pastor Brighton then purchased a field, dug a well and began growing corn, which now feeds many of the orphans who attend the new school. He hopes eventually to expand the farm and add a solar-powered pumping system so that he can bottle water from his well and sell it in nearby Blantyre. This small business will also be a learning opportunity for training young people in business, farming and marketing.
In 2009, Pastor Tom and his family visited Malawi to minister and assist wherever they could.Church member Sue Crawford prepared beautiful baby blankets which were distributed to mothers. In addition, food and clothing were purchased and distributed.
In 2010, proceeds from our church helped purchase goats for a number of families, who can use them for milk, meat and breeding.
In 2010, Pastor Brighton was able to purchase a grain mill, as well as to complete construction of a roof on God’s Hope Church, using funds generated from the monthly cake raffle at our church fish fry. Praise the Lord!
We continue to raise funds for Pastor Brighton’s projects through direct donations. In addition, proceeds from bottle and can drives also help feed the orphans.
One redeemed bottle or can is enough to feed an orphan for a day!
